• Rinse your mouth guard with cold water before and after each use
  • Clean the mouth guard in cool, soapy water and rinse it thoroughly.
  • Place the mouth guard in a firm, perforated container that allows air circulation to store or transport it. This helps to prevent damage.
  • Protect the mouth guard from high temperatures — such as hot water, hot surfaces, direct sunlight, in a closed car or in the glove box HEAT will distort its shape.
  • Occasionally check the mouth guard for general wear. If you find holes or tears in it or if it becomes loose or causes discomfort, replace it.
  • Replace a child’s mouthguard every 12 to 18 months, even if it appears to be in good condition. Growth and new teeth can alter the fit.
  • Replace an adult’s mouthguard after dental treatment or tooth loss. Otherwise it should last for up to 2 years.
  • Bring the mouth guard to each regularly scheduled dental visit to have your Dentist or Dental Prosthetist exam it.
